This was my second visit to this gym. Once again I was not disappointed. The staff was incredible friendly and welcoming. The gym was spacey and clean. The reason for my visit was the mat Pilates class. I wasn't sure what to expect because I have never taken a Pilates class.
Well, by the end of class I was a convert of Pilates. I loved it! I felt like I great workout that included stretching and toning of my legs, core and butt. The class size was small. There were 5 of us total, including myself. All were women and of different ages ranging from early 20's to 40's/50's. The two older ladies tried it out but left in the middle of the class. They didn't seem mad or upset. I"m guessing it was harder for them to stretch into the poses that the teacher made us do.
The poses were not difficult though did require some coordination none of which I had. The instructor was very kind and showed the correct way to perform a pose if I was doing it wrong. I like this because it made her hands on. After all if I am not doing the pose correctly then I am not getting a good workout. IN order to get the stretch and burn is by doing it right.
The instructor was GREAT! She was full of life and energy. She was likable, down to earth and very friendly. She made you feel welcoming to her class. She had prior training and certifications so she knew her stuff. She did the poses and did them three different ways so that a beginner like me could do them or someone more advanced could perform them. I liked this because I could perform the pose without injury myself.
We were in a private room that was medium to large. They provide you with a mat, though I brought my own. The music they played during the work out was upbeat and contemporary but energetic. Sort of like upbeat pop music that you would play an a office. The lights were slightly dimmed which I liked because you could perform the moves with out feeling silly or out of place. The instructor was loud and clear. She allowed us to work at our own pace for a few moves which again I liked because it gave me the chance to get a hang of it.
This time around I knew where to park. In case you didn't see my last review the parking is iffy. You can park behind the building but it is hard to find a space especially during peak hours. There is a garage but there are only a few spaces because the rest of the garage belongs to students of a local college.
I highly recommend this gym and this class. If you are a beginner to Pilates and are unsure or having second thoughts, don't. Go and try this out because you will get an intense, burning workout. You might not sweat but your muscles will feel the burn. I guarantee that if you continued with this class you would get sleek and toned legs, but and abs. The instructor is just amazing, energetic and she'll make you feel right at home.
